Grand Rapids, MI—With the 2012-2013 season just around the corner, the Raiders appear to be headed for yet another successful season. This year’s volleyball squad features 7 returning members from last season’s national tournament qualifying team, and have their eyes set on a national title.

The 2011-2012 season saw the Raiders fall short of a national title, but the team walked away with numerous individual awards, in fact, they received too many to list. The seven returners will serve as veteran leaders, and should help to usher in GRCC’s new talent nicely.

Amongst the new faces on the Raiders roster are Taylor Friend, a 5’11 freshman from Pellston, Emily Johnson, a 5’11 freshman from Grandville and Taylor Meyer, a 5’5 DS from Grand Rapids. Amy VanderWall will be the sole Sophomore entering her first season as a Raider. Vanderwall spent last season with Cornerstone College.

The Raiders will quickly have a chance to prove their preseason ranking with some tough early season matches. During the Tournament of the Stars, GRCC will square off against the number 2 ranked Oakland Community College and the always tough Owen’s Community College.
