Grand Rapids, Mich -- After decades of competition, GRCC has closed its men's and women's tennis programs.
GRCC was the only community college in the state of Michigan competing in men's and women's tennis after the MCCAA stopped sponsoring the sport for men in 1998 and Women in 2010.
GRCC's men's tennis program competed for over 50 years starting in 1959 earning 8 Conference Championships, 11 State Championships and 4 Region XII Championships while making 11 National Tournament Appreaces over the decades.
GRCC's women's tennis program competed since 1978 earning 19 State Championships and 4 Region XII Championships while making 20 National Tournament Appearances.
Former GRCC women's tennis coaches Skip Nelson and Sue Katerburg were named to the the NJCAA Hall of Fame.
